April 2022 Fantasy Book Releases

April is a pretty light month when it comes to 2022 fantasy book releases. So far, there are a few cool books coming out, but other months in 2022 seem to have a larger quantity of fantasy book releases.

Even though April doesn’t have a lot quantity-wise, it does seem to have some really high-quality fantasy books coming out. There are some very anticipated sequels, a few really cool-sounding new series, and some really promising standalone books.

So open up your Goodreads or your Amazon wishlist, and let’s get started talking about all of the April 2022 fantasy book releases!

Fantasy Sequels Coming out in April 2022

There are a few highly anticipated fantasy sequels coming out in April. If you loved the earlier books in the series, then you will be very excited! Two of my personal most anticipated releases are even sequels coming out in April!

Veil (Hush #2)

The second book in the Hush series, this book comes out on April 6, 2022.

Hush was one of the most talked-about YA fantasy books of 2020. Now we will get the thrilling sequel that we have all been waiting for.

Dylan Farrow’s world will draw you in during book one!  So if you are wanting to get into the series, now is a perfect time!

Genesis Wars (The Infinity Courts #2)

Genesis Wars is the highly anticipated sequel to The Infinity Courts.

This series is pitched as Black Mirror meets Warcross. Honestly, need I say more?

This new book by Akemi Dawn Bowman will release to the public on April 19, 2022.

Fevered Sun (Between Earth & Sky #2)

This is the highly anticipated sequel to Black Sun. Coming out on April 19, 2022, Fevered Star is one of the books that I am personally excited about.

Black Sun is a pre-Columbian-inspired adult fantasy with a magical and fantastical premise. We follow multiple PoV characters in a world that feels different than anything else out on the market right now.

While the cover is a bit of a letdown, the book itself is one that I can’t wait to get my hands on this year.

Hunger of the Gods (Bloodsworn Saga #2)

Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne was a runaway hit of 2021. The sequel, Hunger of the Gods, is coming out on April 1, 2022, and I personally can’t wait.

This was one of my favorite books of the year in 2021, and the ending of it really set up well for the sequel.

It is a Norse-inspired world with a badass mom as one of the main characters! What else do we need?

Queen’s Hope (Star Wars)

Coming out on April 5, 2022, Queen’s Hope by EK Johnston is the next book in the Star Wars canon novels.

In this book, we follow Padme as she adjusts to being a wartime senator during the Clone Wars.

I always wanted more development to her character in the movies. So this book makes me very excited to learn more about her and her relationship with Anakin.

New Standalone Books Coming out in April 2022

As always, we are just assuming that these books will be standalone. They don’t have a series name or number attached to them at this time. They could become a series in the future but we are going with the information we have at the time of creating this list.  I think we need more standalone books in the fantasy world, so fingers crossed that these are as good as they sound!

This Rebel Heart

A new standalone YA historical fantasy novel! This Rebel Heart by Katherine Locke comes out on April 5, 2022.

This is a story set amid the 1956 Hungarian Revolution in post-World War 2 Budapest.

We follow Csilla, a girl who has been kept safe by the magic of the river near her home. Now with the Communists in power, she must make a choice, fight and risk her life or let everything burn to the ground.

Hotel Magnifique

In a new fantasy standalone by Emily J Taylor, Hotel Magnifique is said to be perfect for fans of the Night Circus and Caraval.

I am always skeptical when books are compared to the Night Circus since it is one of my favorite books. But this one does sound promising.

This YA fantasy follows Jani as she uncovers the disturbing secrets of the legendary Hotel Magnifique. This book hits shelves on April 5, 2022.

Sofi and the Bone Song

This is the newest release from Adrienne Tooley and it comes out on April 19, 2022. Sofi and the Bone Song is a queer standalone fantasy book.

It follows a musician who is determined to expose her rival for the illegal use of magic. Only she ends up discovering that the deception goes even deeper than she could ever imagine.

This book is said to be perfect for fans of Enchantment of Ravens!

New Fantasy Series Coming Out in April 2022

Usually new series takes up the majority of the fantasy releases. In April though it seems that there aren’t that many new series coming out. I was only able to find two books that I was really excited about.

So if you are like me, then these two new series will probably excite you as well. And if you know of more new fantasy series coming out this month, leave them in the comments so I can check those out as well.

In a Garden Burning Gold

Coming out on April 5, 2022, In a Garden Burning Gold is the first book in a new epic fantasy series.

In this book, we follow twins with magic and near immortality. They will do anything to keep their family safe, even if it tears them apart.

Twins? Magic? Rebellion? Family Drama? Yup! I am sold! And the beautiful cover doesn’t hurt either!

The Blood Trials

In a sci-fi fantasy genre-bending new series, The Blood Trials is slated to release on April 5, 2022.

In this new book by NE Davenport, we follow a young black woman who must survive deadly trials in a racist and misogynistic society so she can become an elite warrior.

There you have it! All of the April 2022 fantasy book releases. This may be a month’s light on quantity, but it definitely seems high on quality!
