Most people know Kindle Unlimited as a platform that has a large number of romance books, but there are a surprisingly large amount of sci-fi and fantasy Kindle Unlimited books available as well. As a mainly fantasy reader myself, I was a bit skeptical, but I did a free trial and after a month I was hooked! There are so many titles available, both self-published fantasy books and traditionally published ones.
Books are added to the library and taken away often, so this list may not be fully accurate at the time you are reading it. Even if some of these books aren’t available when you get around to looking, I can guarantee there will be some new and exciting fantasy Kindle Unlimited books to grab your attention.
What is Kindle Unlimited?
If you don’t know, Kindle Unlimited is a monthly ebook subscription service offered by Amazon. You pay $9.99 a month and you get access to their entire unlimited library.
Many of these books are self-published. So it is a great way to discover smaller authors that you can support! When an author is on KU, they are actually paid per page read so you really are helping them out when you read this way. So help our a self-published author, read their books and then go give them a book review so other people can discover them as well.
With this service, you don’t technically own the books. You are borrowing them and then returning them to Amazon when you are done reading them. Similar to a library but they had a lot more books I was interested in than my local library has available.

Yup, you saw that right. The entire Harry Potter series is on KU right now! This is one traditionally published series I have seen on there for quite some time now. So it seems it will be one to stay for a while.

While this is not one of my personal favorites, Malazan is a fantasy favorite with many people.

The Air Awakens series is one of my favorite self-published fantasy books. It is a YA fantasy romance with a lot of war, politics, and some amazing characters!
Dragon Mage
Another fantastic self-published book, Dragon Mage has been a booktube darling the past year. With it being available to read for free, there’s no better time than now to give it a try.
Winds of Strife
Sticking with the self-published theme, Winds of Strife is a fantastic grimdark epic fantasy. I liked this one so much that I even bought a physical copy just to have in my personal library!

Voice of War
The final self-published fantasy book on this list, Voice of War is the first book in a new adult epic fantasy series by a super talented writer!
A Darker Shade of Magic
I have a feeling this one won’t be available long, but it is one of my favorite series so I had to include it. Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab is an adult fantasy that is perfect for people who typically read YA and want to delve into adult fantasy without feeling too intimidated.

Even though I am mainly a fantasy reader, I do dabble in sci-fi a little bit. I’ve been loving using my Kindle Unlimited to test the sci-fi waters a bit. If you want to try some sci-fi, then these books will make you very excited!
A Memory Called Empire
A Memory Called Empire is another booktube darling, but this time in the sci-fi space. I have actually been meaning to read this one myself so I was super excited to see it here on Kindle Unlimited.

Another sci-fi book that is on my personal TBR, Gideon the Ninth is a space romp featuring necromancers, female relationships, and politics galore!
The Murderbot Diaries

Our final sci-fi book is a sci-fi classic! Ender’s Game is one that I think everyone knows, even people who don’t tend to read sci-fi!
