Top Self-Published Fantasy Pick: “Tribe of the Accord: Adira’s Journey” by Shaun Michael Stone

September 28, 2023 by Jessi Filed Under: Fantasy Book Reviews 4 Comments

You know I’m always on the hunt for captivating reads, and today I’m shining the spotlight on an enthralling self-published gem that I couldn’t put down. Say hello to “Tribe of the Accord: Adira’s Journey” by Shaun Michael Stone!

A Taste of Adventure

Tribe of the Accord: Adira's Journey (Tribe Chronicles Book 1) Buy on Amazon

Set against the backdrop of a rugged wilderness, Adira lives a life of isolation with her father, Torion. All seems well until the day the mysterious Ursa clan disrupts their peace, snatching Torion away.

This sends Adira on a whirlwind adventure into uncharted lands. She’s not just battling the wild; she’s also up against the formidable Ursa clan and the secrets they guard.

What Makes “Tribe of the Accord” Stand Out?

One of the standout features of this novel is its found family theme. Throughout her journey, Adira not only seeks to rescue her father but in the process discovers a tribe that takes her in. The bonds she forms, the friendships that evolve, and the sense of belonging she uncovers make this story resonate deeply.

However, not everything is rosy. Some of the antagonists’ motivations felt a tad thin to me. While the budding romance added a sweet undertone, it didn’t fully captivate me. Yet, these minor hiccups were easy to overlook given the book’s overall charm.

Some Quirks and Highlights

As I navigated this tale, I kept anticipating a magical twist. But “Tribe of the Accord” proved that fantasy can thrive even without the typical magical elements. This realization was refreshing!

Character depth varied. Adira, the protagonist, is beautifully fleshed out, and some side characters shine brilliantly. However, a few others didn’t tug at my heartstrings as much as I expected, especially during pivotal plot moments.

To Wrap It Up

“Tribe of the Accord: Adira’s Journey” is not without its quirks, but that’s what makes it memorable. It’s an engaging read with solid character arcs, a compelling plot, and an inviting world. For anyone seeking a light, no-magic fantasy with strong roots in character development and a touch of alternate history vibes, this one’s for you!

Remember, every book has its magic. And while this may be a self-published title, it competes shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in the genre. I thoroughly enjoyed my day with Adira and her tribe and recommend it to anyone looking for a fresh fantasy perspective.
